While the European Commission has made Open Source a strategic focus for its development, it can be difficult to identify the opportunities offered by the European Commission to support Open Source-based R&D projects (discover all the European Open Source project calls on our dedicated page).
Launched in June, with a budget of €95.5 billion from 2021-2027, the Horizon Europe programme is the European Union’s framework programme for research. Open to all entities based in the European Union (Start-ups, SMEs, ETIs, Large Groups, Research Centres, Universities, Associations, Local Authorities, …), the programme offers research actors various funding opportunities, ranging from individual grants of €20,000 to large-scale collaborative projects with grants of up to several tens of millions of euros.
