EIT Health Innovation Uptake Call

Objectif

The Innovation Uptake Call invites organisations from across the Knowledge Triangle (Industry, Education and Research) to submit applications for funding for collaborative projects focused on patient-centric digital health solutions starting at Innovation Maturity Level (IML) 7 - Validation of Solution.

Proposed solutions must go beyond the state-of-the-art, have a clear medical purpose, and meet the definition of a digital medical device or in-vitro diagnostics device according to European regulations MDR 2017/745 and IVDR 2017/746.

As such, project proposals should focus on the following activities:
• Commercialisation pilots with one or several potential partners (e.g. health care providers, medical device and health technology companies, etc.) to test the implementation of the solution on a small scale and generate the necessary evidence to secure commercial commitments and deploy the product into the target market.
• Usability testing and product adaptations for the target market (e.g. language, user interface, systems integrations, etc.) before a larger scale launch.
• Go-to-market and business model validation activities (e.g. market analysis, establishing commercial or distribution networks, pricing model, etc.) to ensure the deployment of a commercially sustainable solution in the new target market(s). The activities are expected to lead to the product’s commercialisation in the new target market(s) within a maximum of one year after the end of the EIT Health funding period.
• Health Economics Studies and preparing evidence prior to or for the purpose of a Health Technology Assessment
• Exploring and setting up reimbursement pathways, for example by applying for national fast-track procedures (DiGA, PE-CAN, etc.) or establishing selective insurance contracts

Critères d'éligibilité

Who can apply?
- Consortia of at least two independent legal entities from different countries 
- Must include partners from at least two sides of the Knowledge Triangle (Industry, Research, Education) 
- Led by a Commercialising Entity (SME or industry player) responsible for bringing the solution to market 
- Applicants must be legal entities (individuals cannot apply) 
- Entities must be established in eligible Horizon Europe countries (EU Member States, associated countries, or eligible third countries)

Technologies clés

Proposals must address a critical, unmet healthcare need and harness digital technologies. They should demonstrate tangible health outcomes to patients across one or more stages of the patient care pathway, whether through screening, diagnosis, treatment and/or monitoring.
These devices could include software intended to be used alone or in combination with hardware (e.g. scanners, sensors, monitors, etc.) and include static and self-learning algorithms (e.g. artificial intelligence, machine learning). They can be used by patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and health system users in the broadest sense.

Typologie de consortium

Maximum funding per project: €650,000.
Funding covers up to 50% of total project costs (co-funding required).
SMEs leading projects receive €400,000–€500,000 within the grant.

Projects should last maximum 15 months.

Funded projects are expected to achieve: 
- Launch of the innovation to the market with at least €10,000 revenue within one year post-project 
- Reach at least 150,000 patients or citizens within three years 
- Generate strong clinical, economic, and commercial evidence to support adoption 
- Demonstrate scalable, sustainable business and deployment models across European markets
