MaJoR project Open Call 1
The European Union’s autonomy is being challenged daily and across all defence domains. There is a need to modernise current defence systems to increase the durability of future platform designs. The EU requires advanced technologies to strengthen its security and defence capability. The MaJoR project aims to address this need by collaborative cross-domain development of innovative technologies for maintenance, joining and repair of multi-material structures across the Air, Sea and Land domains. This can be achieved through the design, prototyping, testing, and qualification of candidate technologies using unique demonstrator platforms for each domain. MaJoR objectives are: To reduce the cost, weight, lead time, vehicle signature and increase the space efficiency and vehicle availability within the air, sea, and land domains.These improvements are demonstrated on three prototype platforms (one for each domain), with variants to accommodate multiple functions and technologies (including outcomes of the Innovation Techwatch). To develop enabling technologies from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to 6 and demonstrate on each domain platform representing the relevant testing environments To establish an innovation Techwatch that searches for promising related technologies among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups (including those from the civil market), provide mentoring and access to funding and facilities through the Open Call programme.

Objectif
Selecting about 30 pioneering solutions to help tackle the Innovation Challenges detected in five specific topics. The MaJoR Open Call is now launched and offers a unique opportunity for your organisation to develop innovative Maintenance/ Repair solutions and receive up to €60,000 in funding.
Critères d'éligibilité
Eligible applicants*: SMEs, including startup, established in one of the eligible coutries (27 EU Member States, Norway or Ukraine), complying with Ownership Control Restrictions, ethics/ security/operational and financial capacity requirements. Absence of any conflict of interest with MaJoR consortium partners shall be demonstrated.
*Participation of entities other than SMEs can only be accepted where no SMEs are available to demonstrate the capacity or expertise needed for the project during its lifetime (i.e. no SME application eligible for the specific topic)
