SESAR Engage 2 Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) – 2nd call for Air Traffic Management catalyst projects

The Engage knowledge transfer network (KTN) aims to share the resources and findings of the SESAR research and innovation programme with a view to informing future fundamental research, as well as transferring results towards application-oriented work. The network will build on the work of its predecessor, which developed a number of instruments to facilitate knowledge transfer, including a knowledge hub, thematic challenges, catalyst funding and summer schools, to name but a few.

Objectif

Catalyst funding is intended to support focused projects. The focus is on maturing exploratory research further towards applications and operational contexts with a clear European dimension.
These projects may address the corresponding thematic challenges:
• thematic challenge 1: Climate impact analysis and mitigation for ATM-related non-CO 2 emissions
• thematic challenge 2: Passenger-centric digital airport
• thematic challenge 3: Disruptive ATM system modernization
• thematic challenge 4: Integration of new entrants

Projects moving solutions closer towards industry goals and objectives, and towards higher TRLs, will also be considered for catalyst funding, although some priority will be given to proposals aligned with certain thematic challenges.

The Awards Board is comprised of members of the Engage 2 consortium, the SESAR Joint Undertaking, ASDA (Association for the Scientific Development of ATM in Europe, https://www.asda.aero/), CANSO (Global voice of the ATM Industry, https://canso.org/) and the Engage 2 Industry and Advisory Board (without conflicting interests). It is chaired by EUROCONTROL (with a casting vote).

This is the second of two waves of this type of funding, with seven projects awarded funding in the first wave. See first wave of selected projects: https://wikiengagektn.com/catalyst-projects/.

Critères d'éligibilité

Proposals may be submitted by a single entity or by a consortium of between two and four entities. Each entity should be located in a country eligible to receive funding through Horizon Europe grants, however there is no requirement for consortia to include entities from a minimum number of countries.
